What sort of things do I have to consider when switching out a video card?
Does the processor speed matter?
Is it even possible to switch it out?
If it helps with your answer, these are the current specs: ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4330 512MB, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, Intel® Core™ i5-520M (2.4GHz, 4Threads, turbo
boost up to 2.93GHz, 3M cache).
Thanks!|||laptop generally have the laptop built on the mother board and its usually not possible to change them out you best bet is to sell the current laptop and get one that has what you want|||it seems like you were smart enough to get all the specs for your laptop, so im sure you would have no problem just going to your local computer hardware store and picking one up.|||Quite a few video cards in laptops are on the motherboard, so switching it out isn't even an option.

What do I need to know to hook up a video card to my DELL?
I was given a Raiden R4850 video card. The guy said it would hook right up. I got it in but it seems I need a power supply. My computer is an inspiron 530. Is there a way to add a power supply to run my card?|||Every computer already has a power supply. Computers that already come pre-built (like Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.) usually have power supplies that are just enough to support the hardware that it came with plus a little more, like for a second hard drive and such. I doubt it has the required 6-pin connector for your video card. Luckily, you can go online and easily order it from several websites. Try a site like newegg first. If they don't carry it, try a video card manufacturer site like evga, sapphire, xfx, etc. They usually carry power adapters (molex to 6-pin) for video cards in case you lose yours. Then you should be able to play. Also, go online and see what the minimum recommended power supply wattage for your video card is. If your power supply can't support it, your computer might suddenly turn off or crash during gaming sessions.
cnewman sounds like an old timer. Higher powered cards like yours need the power for processing, not just the fan. Only old cards needed a little power just for the fan. No card nowadays even takes a molex connector. And power cables coming from a video card should never be connected to the motherboard. The card itself controls the fan speed and absolutely needs to be hooked up to the video card.|||The power is usually for the fan that keeps it cool. First disable your old video drivers and disable. Place the video card in restarting the computer, and install the drivers for it. As far as power goes, your current power supply should be efficient. Find an extra 4 pin molex connector (like whats powering your hard drive) and plug it in. Unless its not powered by this type of cord. If a 2 pin connector cord is coming of the card, plug it into an extra fan 2 pin slot located in misc. spots on your motherboard.

What video card to upgrade with using SiS 672 Chipset?
My cousin wants to upgrade her video card to something with at least 128mb dedicated memory. Her chipset is SiS 672 with Mirage 3 Graphics (shared only) on Vista Premium (not sure on the exact computer name but we know its an Acer).

My recommended choices, in order of increasing price, are the radeon 4670, 4770, and 4850. I am not an ATi fanboy, its simply that they are a better value than their nvidia competitors.|||check if u have a pci express or a agp slot on the mother board if its older agp slot i suggest u go for agp graphic cards ... if its new pci express slot u should go for pci express graphic cards ... go for ati brand or nvidia brand ...

I need a video card to play a flight sim game that is Shader 1.1 or higher?
My husband has the Microsoft Flight Simulator Gold Edition and it says it needs a Direct X 9 compliant video card or greater or Shader model 1.1 or higher. Is it possible to change my processor and video card for my acer laptop?
I go to the store that fix computers and they say that processors and video card cannot be changed in laptops.
But my laptop is working quite slow and i want to make it work faster.
I have upgraded to 4gb RAM already.|||Video card is a no, on most laptops this is a stationary or soldered custom made component for the computer in question. The processor is a different matter though, although these can indeed be changed and upgraded, it is far more difficult and expensive to do this than most are willing to bare, setting this aside you also have to consider quite a bit before buying a new laptop processor such as...
Will it fit my socket?
Will my current chipset support the new CPU as well as any new features that are not on the old CPU?
Will My BIOS recognize any of these new features or even the new clock speed of the new processor correctly?
Does the new chip exceed the thermal dissipation of the current heatsink I am using or does it draw too much power for the power supply to provide?|||NO YOU CANT

How to update a video or graphics card?
I currently have a Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family and it is on Windows XP Media. I'm not quite sure how to get an update or a better video card for my computer. I play a game online and this was one of the things suggested to make it run faster.|||you cant generally upgrade graphics on a laptop. they're soldered into the motherboard.
