I think you mean pcie. If its more than 3-4 years old it may be an agp port. PCI ports haven't been used for video cards for about 8 years.|||pci? or pci-e? If you have a pci-e port, you should use it instead...

What kind of video card slot does my motherboard have?
My computer is a Compaq Presario SR2150NX. its a couple of years old. The reason I want to know what video card slot the motherboard has is because I need to know if it can handle a high end video card, much like a NVIDIA GeFORCE or a ATI with 512mb of vido RAM. So, if you can answere both of these I would be very greatful. Game on|||you have a PCI EXPRESS X 16|||Your System has the following expansion slots: 3 PCI slots (2 available) 1 PCI Express x16 slot (available), and based on your machines specifications, it most likely has a 300w something power supply unit, not enough to power anything higher than a Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT and Equivalent ATI, if you want to get a stronger nvidia/ATI graphics card, i would get a Corsair 700w power supply from newegg.com to power the graphics card without issues.

What kind of video card can I put in a IBM desktop?
My mom purchased a system from a company here that was getting rid of their older systems. It's an IBM desktop (the flat ones that you put the monitor on top of) and all the parts are integrated into the board. It's a Pentium 4, so it's a decent processor, but the video card or chip set isn't compatible with most of the games my daughter wants to play on it. I was told that she's going to need a low profile video card and the GeForce PCI 5200 didn't work in it, as the metal "backing" was too long. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I can do for it? Is there a specific video card for systems like this or am I just out of luck?|||You better double check on the processor! Just because it says pentium 4 doesnt mean its fast! It could be 7 years old! I doubt very much that the PC she got is worth tryin to upgrade.|||seriously
keep cpu and ram ,throw the rest,
buy new p4 moby to suit cpu, agp video and.
$40 tower
id say theres no seperate graphics slot and pci card suck.|||There are 1/2 height adapters for many video cards, get a card that is either 1/2 height out of the box, or get one that has interchangeable adapters.

How to check video card and motherboard compatibility?
I am thinking about buying the Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5 motherboard and the XFX-585A-ZNFC video card.
I checked the specifications and the card will fit in the motherboard. PCI express x16.
Are there any other compatibility issues I need to worry about?
Also I am going to use an i7-930|||As long as the graphics card fits the slot (which pretty much all new motherboards have a PCIe-x16, and pretty much all new graphics cards fit that slot), it should work.
The one thing you should look out for is your power supply. Make sure your power supply is at least 500W (it probably says it on the side, or if you're buying, check it in the specs), because that is the minimum required for that graphics card. the rest of the system requirements are:
"PCI Express or PCI Express 2.0 compliant motherboard with one X16 graphics slot
500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)
Certified power supplies are recommended.
Minimum 1GB of system memory"
If you've got all that, it will work!
As for the processor, it requires an LGA 1366 socket type, which that motherboard does have, so you're good to go!|||You can run the 5850 on that board with no problems as it has 3 PCIe slots....You could run Tri Crossfire or Tri Sli......That's a nice board.......

Scott|||Make sure your power supply is at least 500w but 600w is better. Everything else is ok. Most new pcs come with about 300 to 350w power supplies.
