What activities on a computer uses your video card (part of a computer)?

sometimes when im playing games my computer freezes and the screen shut downs. i called best buy and they told me my video card may be running out. so i would like to know what uses a video card. i play games (*whispers* for like 7-10 hours *coughs* a day) that u download and play on ur computer ( not pc games from stores) and i look at youtube alot --is this what uses the card?|||It is not uncommon for a computer to freeze these days.

A video card is used to display your picture on your monitor. It is used for everything that needs a picture on the monitor. It is used more heavily during graphics-intensive things such as games.

I think that B.B. wants to sell you a new card...

The best thing to do is to download and install the latest drivers for your video and audio from the manufacturers of the cards or of the computer if they are built-in.

It is possible that your computer is overheating. Open up the case and blow out all of the insides with a can of compressed air. Don't touch anything, just blow it out. You might want to do that outside...|||thx i checked updates i hadnt installed some software, nvidia, which manufactures my video card
