I have recently bought the settlers rise of an empire. To run it i need to upgrade the video card, how do i upgrade it and what video card do i need. Thanks|||the video card in a laptop is a fixed video chip on the mainboard, it is soldered in place and not removable. The best you are going to get is update the VGA software, possibly update the mainboard BIOS to improve things but generally this will make no difference at all to whether the graphics chip you have will play the game or not.
The only update option is an add in card and assumes your laptop has a PciE slot in the side to accept a PCMCIA type card. These are still very expensive and fit only a few models of laptop, most of which already have a reasonable VGA device in the first place.
I am surprised Settlers wont run though, I have a copy that a client brought in (because he could not get it to work on his PC, not a laptop) the specs required are fairly low so load what updates you can and see if it will be happy with that, it is possibly the Shader options that it is not compatible with and an update of the VGA drivers may increase the version number sufficiently.
DirectX 9.0c (June 2007 release)

HD: 2 GB free hard drive space|||a video card is a hardware (a hardware refers to physical part of a computer) ,it can't be upgraded u need to buy a new one , while a software( is any program u use on ur computer) , can be upgraded.
:)|||vedio card is not a software that u can upgrade it.
u need to replace it with a higher capacity vedio card.
because it a hardware like ram.......|||Laptops don't have any expansion slots, so I'm afraid your stuck with the built in video.
