Does the type of memory in a video card have to match the type you need for RAM?

Does the type of memory in a video card have to match the type you need for RAM? For example you have a video card with DDR2 and RAM with DDR would the video card still work?|||no, it does not have to match. video memory used only by GPU and does not relate to your system memory in any way|||The two memories are not related. One is system memory, the other is video memory. It doesn't matter|||Yes it would work 100% I have 2gb ddr2-800 of crucial ballistix RAM, and a 512mb 9600gt DDR3.

make sure you download the drivers as well from the companies website. Either ATI or NVIDIA.
