How do I find out what kind of video card I have?

Well this has probably been asked before, but the answers don't quite work for me. I need to know what kind of video card I have on my Windows (XP) PC. Simple instructions please, and I would prefer if there was nothing to download in order to find out.|||Well you can try 1 of a couple of ways. Go thru your control panel by going to start>settings>control panel and then double click on system and then hardware and then device manager. Then pick display adapters on the plus sign and you should see what your video card is. Also you could right click on your desktop screen and then properties and then settings and the next screen should show your video card under display. Best to you...|||Dude, right-click an empty area of your desktop and select Properties. Go to the Settings tab and click on the Advanced button. Depending on the type of video card you have, you'll notice that one of those tabs has lots of options and information and that's where all that good stuff hides. I have an Nvidia based card and the tab is called "GeForce 7900 GS".

If you're still curious, go to the Start Menu, Run and type:

dxdiag.exe

Look under the Display tab and you should see tons of information about the device. If nothing happens after you type dxdiag.exe (or you get an error message) you need to download DirectX from Microsoft which is ESSENTIAL to run any video card on any Windows based PC.|||1. Right click you desktop and select properties

2. Click the settings tab

3. In the middle of that window it will say:

Display:

<monitor make and model> on <video card make and model>

For example mine says:

Acer AL1916 on Nvidia 7600 GT

This assumes you have the correct drivers installed.
