Do I have to tell the computer to detect a video card?

I have a cheap 128mb builtin motherboard video card and want to buy a better video card.

If I install it in the computer with the drivers that came with it, will it automatically detect it?

If no, then how do I tell the computer to detect it?|||yeah, if you buy a video card just install the drivers on the cd after you pop it in and you are all set. make sure to plug your monitor into the new video card.|||Yes, the disc that comes with the card, sets the pc to detect the device, and all should be fine.|||You do not need to tell it as long as all of the drivers are installed. In your case, they are not installed, so you have to look up the video card and download the drivers.|||if it's plug and play (PnP) it will work by itself

always install the driver first|||whoa never use the drivers on the cd it is the first firmware and usually glitchy. go tot he site of the manufacturer and dl the newest drivers
