What is the difference between a graphics card with a 64MB dedicated video memory to those with 128MB?

I usually heard about some people laptops whose graphics card have a 64MB dedicated video memory with at least 1GB shared memory, as some has 128MB dedicated with around 800MB-1GB shared memory especially if it was from the same graphics card. I know that 64MB or 128MB may be too little for today's gaming but i just want to know the difference or changes that are expected.|||Dedicated memory is memory that the graphics card has built into itself. Shared memory is graphics memory that the card basically steals from your RAM.



The more dedicated memory you have at the highest speed (measured in megahertz, MHz), the better.

For example, a ATI card with 1GB dedicated memory at 1200MHz will be vastly better than an nVidia 512mb card at 800MHz.



Anything stolen by a shared, or "integrated" card from your RAM will result in a slower computer (however it is only on demand, so if your computer only needs 10mb of graphics RAM, only 10mb will be taken from your RAM).|||Dedicated memory is dedicated(whoa!) only to the graphic card, and is installed right on card.

Shared memory instead is the memory that can be allocated to graphic card, but it is installed on MB(its a part of the RAM actually) and because this is slower.



actually the thing is waay more complicated but the meaning is quite this.|||The different are not much, maybe increase your frame rate by 1 or 2.
