Can switch from Nvida to ATI video card when my current card is dead?
Our current video card (Nvidia) just died and we need a new one. I found one I like but its an ATI card. I heard you have to uninstall all the Nvidia drivers before putting in the ATI card but I can't do that because my video card is dead and I can't boot up my computer. So can I put in the ATI card, then unistall the Nividia drivers and install the ATI drivers after? Thanks.|||If you put in an ATI card, your computer will boot fine. When your computer does boot, you should go into your control panel, and go int Add/Remove programs. In there, find and uninstall your Nvidia display drivers. Reboot your computer, then install the proper display drivers for your new ATI card.|||You must uninstall Nvidia drivers, and use a utility known as drivesweeper, to remove any registry instances of Nvidia software. If you do not do this, you will experience anomalies, like grey screens and driver recovery errors. If your computer has built in video , use that as a temporary measure to clean all the old drivers before installing the ATI card. If this is not an option, boot with the ATI card but do not install any drivers until you perform your cleanup.|||Beef_stew4u is correct, you can uninstall the Nvidia drivers after the ATI card is in place and you'll be fine (just make sure your power supply is strong enough for whichever card you choose)|||I do not think you have 2, just put in the ATI card, n install the driverz, it shud b f9, u dnt even have to uninstall the nvidia driverz,
