What kind of video card is needed to play the sims 3 on a windows 98?

I got the sims 3 a while ago, & during that time i have installed the sims 3 and reinstalled it with no problems at all. But when i get to the menu & press play a message comes up saying "unable to start game. Device 0 cannot run this title. Your video card does not appear to support at least Shader Model 2. Please upgrade your card." What does this mean, & what kind of new video card do i need in order for the sims 3 to work?|||I'm sorry, dear lady, but even if you do upgrade your video card to one that has Shader Model 2 support, you're not going to be able to run it under Windows 98. It requires at least Windows XP SP2.

The first url below shows the system requirements for The Sims 3. The second url is a breakdown of what the website http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyr… states are the minimum requirements.

CPU

Minimum: (XP) 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent; (Vista/7) 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent [If built-in graphics chipsets then 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent.]

RAM

Minimum: (XP) 1 GB RAM; (Vista/7) 1.5 GB RAM [If built-in graphics then add 0.5 GB additional RAM]

OS

Minimum: Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or Windows Vista (Service Pack 1) or Windows 7

Video Card

Minimum: 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 or above / ATI Radeon 9500 or above / Intel GMA 3-series or above)

If you prefer, you can click on the second url and choose The Sims 3 from the second drop down box and then click on Can You Run It. It will need to download an activex component on your computer, but it IS safe. I've been using the site for a few years now and none of my anti-malware products have given alarm ... and you wouldn't believe the amount of security stuff I've got running.

This will scan your computer to see if it meets the minimum requirements for a whole range of games ... you'll have seen these when choosing The Sims 3 from the drop down list. It will produce a page giving you details of whether or not your computer can run a specific game, and will tell you what needs updating/upgrading if need be.

I'm so sorry that I'm the bearer of such bad news.|||Well, first UPGRADE YOUR OS!

That is one of the first problems,

And go with AT LEAST a 8600 GT,

And, update Direct X!
