What screen resolution can my video card handle?

How can I determine what screen resolution my graphics card can handle?

I don't know the model, etc. of the video card.|||Windows Vista: Start > Control Panel > Personalization > Display Settings > Advanced Settings > Adapter tab > List All Modes > select the one you want (be sure its compatible with your monitor) > OK.

Windows XP is similar.|||Normally one doesn't go by this, as graphics cards can support very high resolutions. You normally set the screen resolution to the highest your monitor (or display) can support. the max resolution my monitor can support is 1680x1050. i know this because its the highest setting windows will allow me to set in the display settings. This is called your native resolution.

You may have to set the resolution lower when playing games to stop it pausing, if you haven't got a powerful graphics card, but this is normally done in the game settings.

good luck!|||If its old, try 1280x1024
