How to install video card in a new computer?

I just had a custom built pc delivered to me, but I bought the video card seperately. I installed it and plugged my monitor into it, but the screen doesnt react. I assume this is because the video card doesnt have any drivers installed so the pc cant recognise it.

How do I get the monitor working to install the video card?|||Unplug the monitor from your new card and plug it back in to the integrated video connector. When you power on the system enter the BIOS setup screen. Select to use the PCI video card as the primary video adapter. Save changes and exit. Power off the machine and connect your monitor to the new card and power on. You should now have an image on your screen. When windows loads it will detect and install the appropriate drivers. At this point I recommend downloading and installing the most up to date driver from the video card manufactures website.|||If you've installed the video card correctly then you will get a display on the screen, even though the drivers are yet to be installed. Windows will simply use its generic drivers to give you a basic display until the drivers are installed which will give the card full functionality and make the display look much better.

You haven't installed it properly. Did you put it in the right slot? Did it click into place? Did you plug in any power cables that might need connecting from your power supply to the card itself?|||I think the card should still work other wise they would be pretty useless. When I first installed my GPU card it worked and then I had to install the software to use its functionality like the other ports and high resolution and more.

The reason being is because when a GPU is inserted a dedicated Graphics card the computer or more over the OS disables on board graphics IE the motherboard. Which is why when one is inserted you can't have a second monitor plugged into the Motherboard. Well most ofd the time this is disabled. I suspect there may be exceptions.

I would say:

1)Ensure both wires IE both sides of the VGA wire or what ever wire you are using are connected properly.

2)Ensure it is seated properly

3)Some GPU's require secondary power depending on how big your GPU is make sure you have this connected.

4) Does your motherboard require secondary power? Make sure it is connected if so.

5)Ensure the fans if any on the GPU are connected. I noticed on my GPU a while back it would not work unless the fan on it was connected. It just flashed a red light.

Alternatively if the GPU required a driver it should have come with it on disk. But if it didn't go to the manufactures website and download one and then install it plug the card back in and see if it will work.|||My graphics card conked out on me and I had to get a new one. When I swapped them, I don't remember not being able to get my screen to work.

Are you sure you put the card in right and have everything connected as it should be?

Is the card compatible with your mother board?

Call up the manufacturer of the card and ask what you need to do. They could be of more help to you than us trying to guess what to do.

But I don't remember having to install my video or graphic's card drivers "blind".
